The PSLF is a program that allows you to forgive your debts upon completion of 10 consecutive years. In order to be eligible the program, you must complete your full-time job for a reputable employer and be able to make 120 timely payments.
If you’re confused on what qualifies as being an eligible employer, these are the things that meet the criteria:
-Your government employer
It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
A public or non-profit health care provider
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I have to file for Where Do I Send My Public Service Loan Forgiveness Form?
You are eligible to apply for PSLF when you own one of the loans that qualifies and you’ve made 120 qualifying repayments on that loan. You may be eligible to file for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying payments, however you must apply in the initial 10 years following your repayment period.
You do not need to be a candidate for PSLF when you begin your repayment period. You have the option of waiting until you’ve paid 120 transactions before submitting your application.
