What Jobs Count For PSLF – This PSLF form is an application form which you need to fill out to be eligible for the Public Service Credit Forgiveness Plan. The PSLF is the program that allows you to have your loans forgiven upon completion of 10 consecutive years. Before you can be considered eligible this program, you must perform your job full-time at a qualified employer and make 120 on-time payments.
If you’re still not certain of what constitutes an employer that qualifies, these are the things that meet the criteria:
-Your government employer
–A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
-An un-profit or public health organization
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I have to File For What Jobs Count For PSLF?
You are eligible for PSLF If you hold an eligible loan and have made the required 120 payments on that loan. You may be able file for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying payments, however you must apply at the beginning of the 10th year of your repayment period.
You do not have to declare PSLF at the beginning of your repayment period. You can wait until after you’ve completed 120 payments prior to filing for it.
