The PSLF is program that allows you to receive your loans for free in the event of 10 years’ continuous service. To be eligible for this program, you need to perform your job full-time at a qualified employer, and you must make on-time 120 payments.
If you’re not sure of what constitutes an employer with a qualified status, here are some suggestions that count:
-Your government employer
-A 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
-An un-profit or public health care provider
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I need to file for PSLF Self Employed?
You can qualify for PSLF if you have a loan that is eligible and you have made the required 120 payments on that loan. It’s possible to apply for PSLF with only 10 qualifying payments, but the application must be filed before the end of your repayment period.
It’s not necessary to submit a claim for PSLF prior to the start of your payment period. You will have to wait until the completion of 120 payments before submitting for it.
