You are eligible for PSLF depending on whether you’ve got one of the loans that qualifies and you’ve made 120 qualifying repayments on that loan. It is possible to file for PSLF after having made just 10 qualifying payments, but you must apply prior to the 10 years that begin your repayment period.
It is not necessary to declare PSLF when you begin your repayment period. You are able to wait until you’ve completed 120 payments before filing.
