Qualifying Employment For The PSLF Program – This PSLF form is an application form that you must fill in to participate in the Public Services the Loan Repayment Program. The PSLF is a program that allows you to forgive your debts when you reach 10 years in service. When you are eligible to join the program, you need to work full-time for a qualifying employer and make 120 on-time payments.
If you’re unsure on what qualifies as being an employer that is qualified, below are some items that meet the criteria:
-Your government employer
-A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
A public health or non-profit health care provider
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I need to File For Qualifying Employment For The PSLF Program?
You are eligible for PSLF only if you hold one of the loans that qualifies and you’ve made the required 120 payments on that loan. You may be able to file for PSLF after only making 10 qualifying payment, but you have to file for it prior to the 10 years that begin your repayment period.
It’s not necessary to fill out a form for PSLF when you begin your repayment period. You are able to wait until you’ve completed 120 payments before submitting for it.
