PSLF Certification – This PSLF form is the form you must complete in order to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. The PSLF is an option that permits you to have your loan forgiven upon completion of 10 consecutive years. When you are eligible to join this program, you need to be employed full-time with a qualifying employer, and you must make on-time 120 payments.
If you’re not sure about what qualifies as an employer that qualifies, here are some suggestions that can be considered qualifying:
-Your government employer
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
A public health care institution
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I need to file for PSLF Certification?
You can qualify to apply for PSLF when you own an eligible loan and you make 120 qualifying installments on that loan. You may be able file for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying loans, however, you must apply during the first 10 years after the start of your repayment period.
There is no requirement to make an application for PSLF from the very beginning of your repayment period. You are able to wait until you’ve completed 120 transactions before submitting your application.
