The PSLF is an initiative that allows you to receive your loans for free after 10 years of service. When you are eligible to join this program, you need to be employed full-time with a qualifying employer and pay 120 on-time payments.
If you’re uncertain of what constitutes an employer that is qualified, these are the items that can be considered qualifying:
-Your government employer
–A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
A public or non-profit health care organization
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service

You’re eligible to apply for PSLF when you own an eligible loan and you make 120 qualifying repayments on that loan. You may be eligible to apply for PSLF when you’ve made 10 qualifying loans, however, you must file during the first 10 years after the start of your repayment period.
You don’t have to submit a claim for PSLF in the first month of the repayment period. You have the option of waiting until you’ve paid 120 payments before filing for it.
