The PSLF is the program that allows you to have your loans forgiven upon completion of 10 consecutive years. You’re eligible to file for PSLF when you own an eligible loan and have made 120 qualifying payments to that loan. You might be able to file for PSLF after making only 10 qualifying payments, but you have to file for it for it within 10 years from the commencement of the repayment period.
It’s not necessary to apply for PSLF before the commencement of your loan period. You will have to wait until the completion of 120 payments before submitting for it.
