The PSLF is an initiative that allows you to be granted loan forgiveness within 10 years after you have served. You are eligible for PSLF if you have an eligible loan and you make 120 qualifying monthly payments on that loan. You may be able to apply for PSLF after making only 10 qualifying payments, but you must file for it for it within 10 years from the commencement of the repayment period.
It is not necessary to file for PSLF before the commencement of your loan period. You may wait until you’ve made 120 payment before you file for it.
