You’re eligible to apply to file for PSLF in the event that you have a qualifying loan and are able to make 120 qualifying repayments on that loan. You may be able file for PSLF by making just 10 qualifying payments, however you must apply for it within the first 10 years of your repayment period.
You do not need to be a candidate for PSLF prior to the start of your payment period. You can wait until having made 120 payments before submitting for it.
