The PSLF is the program that allows you to have your loan forgiven at the end of 10 years’ work. For you to qualify for the program, you need to complete your full-time job for a reputable employer and make 120 on-time payments.
If you’re not certain about what qualifies as a qualifying employer, then below are some items which are considered to be qualifying:
-Your government employer
• A 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
-A non-profit or public health care institution
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I have to file for Federal Income Driven Repayment Certification Form PSLF?
You are eligible for PSLF for those who have a qualifying loan and are able to make 120 qualifying payments to that loan. You may be able apply for PSLF when you’ve made 10 qualifying payments. However, you must file prior to the 10 years that begin your repayment period.
It’s not necessary to apply for PSLF from the very beginning of your repayment period. You may wait until you’ve made 120 payments before filing for it.
