You’re eligible to apply for PSLF when you own one of the loans that qualifies and you’ve made 120 qualifying payment on the loan. You may be able apply for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying payments. However, you have to file for it during the first 10 years after the start of the repayment period.

You do not have to be a candidate for PSLF immediately at the time of beginning your repayment period. You can wait until after you’ve completed 120 payments before filing.
