Public Service Loan Forgiveness PSLF. – A PSLF form is an form that you will need to fill out in order to be eligible for the Public Service loan forgiveness program. The PSLF is a program that allows you the forgiveness of your loans after 10 years of service. In order to be eligible the program, you must work full-time for a qualifying employer and make 120 on-time payments.
If you’re not sure of what constitutes an eligible employer, these are the items which are considered to be qualifying:
-Your government employer
It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
A public health or non-profit health care provider
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I need to file for Public Service Loan Forgiveness PSLF.?
You’re eligible for PSLF for those who have a qualifying loan and are able to make 120 qualifying installments on that loan. You may be able to file for PSLF after having made just 10 qualifying payments. However, you must apply during the first 10 years after the start of your repayment period.
There is no requirement to fill out a form for PSLF when you begin your repayment period. You can wait until you’ve made 120 payments before submitting for it.
