When do I need to File For Should I Give Up On PSLF?

You’re eligible to file for PSLF If you hold the qualifying loan and can make 120 qualifying payment on the loan. You might be able to apply for PSLF after only making 10 qualifying loans, however, the application must be filed in the initial 10 years following your repayment period.

It is not necessary to be a candidate for PSLF prior to the start of your payment period. You can wait until you’ve made 120 payments before filing for it.
