You’re eligible to file for PSLF depending on whether you’ve got an eligible loan and have made 120 qualifying monthly payments on that loan. You may be able to file for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying payments. However, the application must be filed prior to the 10 years that begin your repayment period.
You do not have to make an application for PSLF before the commencement of your loan period. You have the option of waiting until you’ve paid 120 payments before submitting for it.
