The PSLF is the program that allows you to forgive your debts when you reach 10 years in service. For you to qualify for this program, you must perform full-time work for a qualifying employer, and you must make on-time 120 payments.
If you’re unsure about what is a qualifying employer, then below are some items that can be considered qualifying:
-Your government employer
“A” stands for 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation
A non-profit, public health-care organization
-An AmeriCorps or Peace Corps volunteer service
When do I need to File For What Is PSLF Forgiveness?
You can qualify to file for PSLF only if you hold an eligible loan and have made 120 qualifying payments on that loan. You might be able to file for PSLF after you have made only 10 qualifying payments, however you must submit a request for it before the end of your repayment period.
You don’t have to apply for PSLF from the very beginning of your repayment period. You can wait until having made 120 payments before submitting for it.
