The PSLF is an opportunity for you the forgiveness of your loans following 10 years’ service. You are eligible to apply for PSLF when you own a loan that is eligible and you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments on that loan. You may be able file for PSLF after having made just 10 qualifying payment, but you must apply for it in the initial 10 years following your repayment period.
You do not need to be a candidate for PSLF from the very beginning of your repayment period. You can wait until you’ve made 120 installments before filing for it.
